Apple Ipad Transparent Concept

Check out this new concept and 3D model by Ricardo Afonso for a transparent iPad.

Sometimes imagine how the design of some electronic devices will be in the future. In the specific case of tablets and smartphones, they will be a rectangular piece of glass that blends perfectly with the surrounding environment, without any elements of the hardware that could visually disconnect the user from the content during the interaction, improving the level of immersion and the user experience.

However, because we are still far from having such a device, the appearance of the tablets will evolve in a more near future, with some elements from todays design mixed with a design that those fully transparent tablets possibly will have in a more distant future.

1TB Photo Sharing Storage Free: Yahoo Flickr

              Yahoo has redesigned its Flickr photo-sharing service, offering users up to 1TB of storage without a fee.

The revamp also allows users to host longer video clips and higher-resolution photos, and a new app has been launched for Android devices.

“Marissa Mayer is trying to realign the business to focus on a core set of high-traffic properties,” said Chris Green, principal technology analyst at consultants Davies Murphy Group Europe. Continue reading

India’s First Navigation Satellite System

          The Indian Government is looking to it that the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is develops the Indian Regional Navigational Satellite System or the IRNSS to provide two important services. One is the Standard Positioning Service on land, air and water open for civilian use and the Restricted Service, encrypted one, for authorised users. News has it that this Navigation Satellite System-1A, which is India’s first, will be launched from the home-grown rocket, PSLV-C22 XL at 1.01 am from Sriharikota Space Port on June 12. Sriharikota is located off the Bay of Bengal on Andhra Pradesh coast, about 90km north-east of Chennai. So, this navigation system, which also helps in disaster and fleet management as well as tracking of vehicles, is a 1425 kg IRNSS-1, with a life span of about ten years.

Adobe Creative Suite transforms to Creative Cloud

                    Adobe announced this month that it will no longer release retail packaged versions of its software such as Photoshop, Illustrator and the Creative Suites. Creative Suite 6 will be the last version available to purchase as a hard copy. Instead, they have decided their Creative Cloud service will be the only way to use their programs for future updates.

Bill Gates is the richest man in the world again

Bill Gates is once again the world’s richest man, according to Bloomberg News.It says Gates has taken the lead from Mexican magnate Carlos Slim thanks to Microsoft‘s rising stock price. It’s at a 5-year high trading at ~$34 a share.Bloomberg‘s Billionaire Index hasn’t yet updated to reflect Gates’ new net worth. It still shows Slim as number one with a $73.2 billion net worth. Google welcomes us to a world through Glass

                    Google Glass (styled as “Google GLΛSS”) is a wearable computer with a head-mounted display (HMD) that is being developed by Google in theProject Glass research and development project, with the mission of producing a mass-market ubiquitous computer. Google Glass displays information in a smartphone-like hands-free format, that can interact with the Internet via natural language voice commands. While the frames do not currently have lenses fitted to them, Google is considering partnering with sunglass retailers such as Ray-Ban or Warby Parker, and may also open retail stores to allow customers to try on the device. The Explorer Edition cannot be used by people who wear prescription glasses, but Google has confirmed that Glass will eventually work with frames and lenses that match the wearer’s prescription; the glasses will be modular and therefore possibly attachable to normal prescription glasses.

News: 502 error continues to plague Gmail users

For at least the third time in 11 days, Google’s Gmail users have encountered 502 errors while trying to access their emails. The first reported Gmail downtime this month was on May 2, followed by another on May 8.
